Utah LiDAR mobilizes to qualifying Idaho projects from its home base in the Uintah Basin. Southeastern Idaho may involve shorter travel than northern Idaho, the Panhandle, or central mountain regions, but every project is scheduled and priced individually. Multiple sites within the same Idaho region can often be combined into one mobilization when schedules and site readiness align. LiDAR may collect ground returns through openings in grasses, brush, and tree canopy, but it does not see through every type of vegetation. Bare-earth data quality depends on canopy density, season, terrain, sensor performance, flight configuration, and actual ground visibility.
Snow generally causes LiDAR to represent the visible snow surface rather than the bare earth beneath it, and dense forest canopy can require additional planning while still producing fewer ground returns than open terrain.
Agricultural crops may obscure the underlying ground surface depending on crop height, density, and season, so grading and earthwork collections are usually timed to bare or low-cover conditions. Mountain elevation, cold, wind, smoke, haze, and changing weather may affect safe operations and scheduling.
